    Using these terms with patients

    • "Evacuación" is clinical; many patients understand "hacer del baño" more readily.
    • Acidez and agruras both mean heartburn, the second common in Mexico. Recognise both when taking a history.
    • For GI bleeding, ask about colour directly: "¿La sangre era roja o negra como café?"
